Taking the time to handcrafted miniature works of art is just a small part of her project. The works that she finishes, she has taken to giving to unsuspecting recipients. She says it is her small way of giving back. Each little piece is a miniature work of art in the shape of a token. They are meant to be keepsakes.
C.S. dates and numbers all of the pieces. She tries to make a few each day during her regular time working in the studio. Her intention is to give them away. The pieces are first cut into a small shape the size of a large coin. They start as scraps of wood from the many wooden art projects she makes and sells in her array of shops. C.S. makes jewelry and artwork from driftwood found on the Lake Michigan shoreline.
Rather than throw the small pieces away she tries to utilize as much of the waste as possible. finding pieces that are just the right size to make the miniature wood tokens has become a proud venture for C.S. Living a modest lifestyle she says it is one way she can give something back to people in a way that keeps on giving. It is the gesture on the wooden token that counts. It is a keepsake that keeps on giving with the small gesture wood burned and painted onto the token.
The wood is decorated using wood burning and often painted to add a bit of color and life to the piece. Simple gestures of kindness, greetings of good will and each one dated. C.S. says she wants tio try to put a token in every order she gets from her shops. She sends an extra good wish from her Henderson Nevada art studio with each token she ships.
