The Macao Youth Symphony Orchestra (MYSO) - composed of 60 young musicians - kicks off their first U.S. tour with “A Nite of Mozart” by the classical composer, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
Join the young talents as they perform on August 29 at 7:30 pm at The Kennedy Center and August 31 at 11:00 am at Catholic University’s Basilica of The National Shrine of The Immaculate Conception.
MYSO was founded in 1997 by a group of music teachers and former players from the Macao Chamber Orchestra. The orchestra provides classical training and performing opportunities for youth ages 14 to 22 in Macao. The youth members have completed hundreds of classical performances and received international recognition.
The tour will be led by one of the distinguished alumni conductor, Lio Kuokman, and MYSO member, Hoi Yan Lok. A former Portuguese colony, Macao has been a special administrative region of China since 1999. Given the rising global presence of Macao, sponsors of this event hope that the Macao Youth Symphony Orchestra will cultivate a cultural exchange with Americans through music and to showcase the technically gifted youth musicians of Macao.
This is a free classical performance and general admission tickets are required. To reserve concert tickets, contact Tina Barksdale 315-212-1901 and/or Wing Chi Chan 202-489-8383.
