WHO: Howard County area residents Dr. Phyllis Famularo, DCN, RD, CSG, LDN, Senior Manager of Nutrition Services for SODEXO
WHAT: Do you believe that what you have in your kitchen cabinets may be more effective in keeping you healthy than what you have in your medicine cabinet? According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), healthy eating is associated with reduced risk for chronic diseases including heart disease, cancer, stroke and diabetes.
On May 20, 2014, The Lutheran Village at MILLER’S GRANT, a planned not-for-profit continuing care retirement community in Ellicott City, will host Dr. Phyllis Famularo. Famularo, who has over 25 years in providing nutrition services for older adults, is a leading nutritionist in the Mid-Atlantic for SODEXO Senior Living, which provides dining services for senior healthcare and living providers.
During her presentation, she will educate Howard County area seniors and adult children about how proper nutrition and the right food choices play a major role in how you feel and perform. Famularo will also provide attendees with an overview on how incorporating certain foods into your diet like garlic, dark chocolate and tomatoes can help achieve a healthier lifestyle, longevity and reduce the risk of diseases and disorders.
