The Lovely Bones trailer beckons Twilight parents (video)

During the midnight premiere of New Moon, it was delightful to see a showcase of Summit trailers, especially the much anticipated one for Robert Pattinson’s upcoming movie, Remember Me.

Follow up showings of New Moon now include other trailers, however- among them, the popular novel turned movie, The Lovely Bones, a murder mystery sure to touch parents and tug on heartstrings globally. A multitude of Twilight fans, specifically parents, have already expressed their inability to read the novel in one burst- many have had to stop and reflect upon the mortality of their own children before continuing on.

Summit's Push was a standard trailer that aired throughout the run of Twilight; The Lovely Bones is poised to do the same, beckoning Twilight Parents to find out more.

Set to release December 11 in the U.S. (check out the international release dates as well), The Lovely Bones features an amazing cast including Mark Wahlberg, Rachel Weisz, Susan Sarandon, Stanley Tucci, Michael Imperioli, and Saoirse Ronan.

The synopsis:

Based on the critically acclaimed best-selling novel by Alice Sebold, and directed by Oscar® winner Peter Jackson from a screenplay by Fran Walsh & Philippa Boyens & Jackson, “The Lovely Bones” centers on a young girl who has been murdered and watches over her family – and her killer – from heaven. She must weigh her desire for vengeance against her desire for her family to heal.

Have you read The Lovely Bones? Do you have any desire to view the film? (after getting an additional fix of New Moon, of course…)

I did read the book start to finish on a 4 hour flight and it was chilling, especially the first few chapters. Great book, though I'm not sure I can take the movie...

Yes, I read the book & loved it. Obviously, as a mom, it was difficult to read, but such a moving book. I would like to see the movie, I like to really feel something when I watch movies.

i agree w/ Cullenized. Good book but i don't think i would be able to handle it again. not like the Twilight series where you become absorbed into the storyline.

I am looking forward to this movie, though the subject might be very sensitive. Peter Jackson is a genious and to me the trailer looks amazing.

This looks like it will be difficult to watch. I rarely go to movies like this as I usually walk away feeling so depressed. I like to walk away from movies feeling happy and good. I'm a sucker for a happy ending. But this looks SO intriguing. I may have to make an exception. As a parent, it looks like it will be painful to watch :(

I'm a 13 year old girl. Everyone tells me I am very mature and all that good stuff. What I would like to know is do you think it is age appropriate for me?

  • Nora 2 years ago

The book I mean. I have no desire to see the movie.

    Nora,
I assume you're talking about "The Lovely Bones" and NOT Twilight. I haven't read it, but I'm familiar with the themes, and I found this article:

    www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?BRD=1654&dept_id=57102&newsid=17725838&PAG=461&rfi=9

Even though you're a mature 13, the themes of rape and adultery are very mature, often even too much so for adult readers. The book is designed for high school/ adult readers.

My suggestion would be to wait just a few more years before you read about it. At your age, reading too much about rape and adultery is still beyond what you should be learning about at this point.

The fact that you even ask instead of assuming you're mature enough is quite impressive... I have a feeling you'll be successful in whatever you put your mind to. Good luck, sweetheart!
