Los Angeles Times: 'The Taste' a foodies idea of heaven
Los Angeles Times THE TASTE

I am a foodie and proud of it. I love food. I'm one of those people who make happy groaning sounds, whenever I eat delicious food.

Even though I am one of the worst cooks on the planet, I am obsessed with shows like 'Top Chef', 'Hells Kitchen', 'Master Chef'. Personally, I think chefs are the new rock stars and I'm pretty sure they think so too.

The Los Angeles Times: 'The Taste' is my favorite 'food' event of the year. It takes place at Paramount studios on the Labor Day weekend and it's a 'must' for anyone who loves to eat and drink...a lot.

It's here you get to meet with some of your favorite chefs and experience the delicious cuisine of your favorite restaurants and those you've yet to try.

'The Taste' OPENS on Friday evening, August 29th, 7:30 to ll:30 p.m. This intimate soiree gives you the chance to mingle with many of the weekend’s participating chefs and bartenders. You'll be able to experience a collection of tastings, distinctive cocktail and wine offerings, as well as live entertainment.

The hosts for this very special evening are:

Noelle Carter, LA Times Test Kitchen director, Michael Cimarusti, Chef/Owner Providence, Chef/Partner Connie & Ted’s, Julian Cox, Mixologist at Rivera, Jonathan Gold, LA Times Food Critic, Betty Hallock, LA Times Deputy Food Editor, Russ Parsons, LA Times Food Editor, John Sedlar, Chef/Principal Rivera and Nancy Silverton, Osteria Mozza.

Saturday, August 30th, ll:00 a.m. to 3:00 pm, brings us FIELD TO FORK...an afternoon that is not just for food lovers, but home cooks as well. Russ Parsons, The Times’ Food Editor and Nancy Silverton, co-owner of Osteria Mozza, Pizzeria Mozza and Chi Spacca, host an event inspired by fresh, local ingredients and share the pleasure of cooking seasonal dishes.

In the evening from 7:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. is DINNER WITH A TWIST, hosted by Jonathon Gold, the LA Times Restaurant Critic, and Betty Hallock, LA Times Deputy Food Editor, and Co-Host John Sedlar, Chef/principal of Rivera and Julian Cox, mixologist also from Rivera.

Here you'll be able to experience plates and pours from some of the city's hottest chefs.

SUNDAY BRUNCH on August 31st from ll:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. will be hosted by Noelle Carter, Times Test Kitchen Director, and Co-Host Thomas Keller, Chef/Proprietor of The French Laundry, Per Se and Bouchon.

This event is for everyone, including the kids, who loves breakfast and lunch together.

FLAVORS OF LOS ANGELES, takes place on Sunday evening, August 31st from 7:30 to ll:30 p.m. This has always been on of my favorites of the weekend. Once again, it's hosted by Jonathan Gold, along with be the chef extraordinaire, Michael Cimarusti, Chef/Owner of Providence and Connie and Ted's.

One last thing...Come hungry and thirsty. I guarantee you will not leave that way.
