A Daily Word from the Word for Tuesday, December 3, 2013
“The Lord God is my strength; He will make my feet like deer’s feet, and He will make me walk on my high hills.” – Habakkuk 3:19
God is our strength, and what a strength He is indeed! The Hebrew word for “strength” as used in this verse is chayil (pr. khah-yil), which is “a force, an army, wealth, virtue, valor” (Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance). God is all of these things and infinitely more. The next time you call on God as your strength, know that you are calling on God as an army to back you, fight for you, and deliver you to victory.
You are calling on God as your wealth, your Jehova Jireh (the Lord Who Provides) to meet your every need: spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, financially, and every other area of your life. You are calling on the Creator of the universe as your virtue, your moral compass to guide you and keep you on the righteous path. This, my brothers and sisters, is God our strength.
He will “make” our feet like deer’s feet. To “make,” as used here, is suwm (pr. soom), which means to “put on.” The Hebrew word for deer is ayalah (pr. ah-yaw-lah), and is “a hind.” According to Minister Barbara Lardinais “The hind is a female red deer whose home is the mountains. The rear feet of the hind step in precisely the same spot where the front feet have just been. Every motion of the hind is followed through with single-focused consistency, making it the most sure-footed of all mountain animals.”
Do you know that the Lord has some high places for you, family? “Places where the air is pure, the view pristine, distractions are far below, and there are paths just big enough for the two of you. It's true that the climb up to the high places is a bit more challenging than a level foot path in the valley. But not if you've got those hind’s feet; then you are equipped for the roughest terrain” (hannahscupboard.com).
Our Father puts on us the feet that will cause us to be victorious! The Lord our God orders our steps by His Word; and when we call on Him, He will keep us in our ordered steps and not allow us to veer to the right or to the left. Our righteous Father will make our crooked paths straight (Proverbs, 4:27, Psalm 119:33, Isaiah 45:2).
The “high” hills that the Lord causes us to walk on are the bamah (pr. baw-maw), which are the “high places.” And notice that these are our hills. We already possess these high places that our Conqueror has given to us. The Hebrew word for feet, as used here, is regel (pr. reh-gel), which means “to be able to endure, possess.” God will cause us to possess that which He has enabled us to endure. Joshua 1:3 testifies of the sure promises of the Lord, when God spoke “I will give you every place where you set your foot.”
The second use of the word “make” is the same Hebrew word suwm; however, it means “to appoint, call a name.” These high places, these hills, are appointed to us by God; they already have each of our names written on them!
And what are these “hills” that the Lord speaks of? They are maqowm (pr. maw-kome) — “a standing, of a condition of body or mind.” Since these are high hills and high places, these are all of the places high over every area, situation, circumstance, and event of which God caused us to have the victory. This is every victorious condition that we stand in, because “God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in heavenly places” (Ephesians 2:6). This is every standing of righteousness, as we are “the righteousness of God through Jesus Christ” (2 Corinthians 5:21). We soar on wings like eagles above the clouds (Isaiah 40:31).
My brothers and sisters, when mountains get in your way, you need to go to the high places that God has given you, so that your aerial view gives you the right perspective; in which those mountains now look as they should: just like mole hills for you to walk over and to continue on to your God-given, God-appointed, and God-anointed destiny.
Father, thank You that you are our Strength. Thank You, Most Powerful Father, for giving us feet to endure and high places to possess. Infuse us with Your unbeatable strength right now that we may be stirred up with a new level of undefeatable conviction so that we conquer our every mountain! In Jesus Name, thank You for giving us Your strength which leads us to the victory in You. Amen and Amen!
Take action! Challenge your thinking! Choose to walk on the high places and the high hills that God already gave you. Choose to allow God to put hind’s feet on you and lead you to every place that has your name written on it by the Hand of the Creator. And continue to fight the good fight of standing in those righteous places and prosperous conditions; for God, your Cordwainer (Shoemaker), has already given you the victory!
If you have never received Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, I encourage you to do it today, right now, by saying this prayer out loud: “Jesus, forgive me for my sins. I am sorry. I truly desire to be saved and reconciled back to God, my Father, through You. I receive Your sinless Blood as payment in full for my sins—past, present, and future. I now call You my Lord and Savior, and invite You to live within my heart, and to permanently live within me. I make You Lord over me and over my life from this moment on. Amen.” Congratulations! You are now a child of God, made whole and made new, by the Blood of Jesus Christ!
