A little over one month ago we examined the gifts that God gives and we made mention of Ariel Castro and the way that he squandered gifts given by our heavenly Father. Last week the news broke that Mr. Castro was found dead in his prison cell. Whether he experienced remorse and decided to commit suicide or was punished according to the unwritten prisoner's code, the requirement of his life may be in payment for the one that he took of a child in utero.
Our president and some of his political allies are trying to foment the overthrow of yet another foreign leader, whom they claim used chemical weapons against a group of people resulting in their deaths. Reluctance to engage our military is building among congress and the American people and the prevailing sentiment is that our country should not interfere especially when no American blood has been shed. The leaders of the other nation have been quoted as saying our nation should halt the slaughter of our innocents before threatening military action. Christ Jesus asked why people insist on removing the speck from their brother's eye while ignoring the plank in our own.
Some of our political leaders are shouting that we take action now to prevent more killing in a distant land. These same leaders will not dare to opine that a woman make a choice to preserve the life within them rather than choose to kill an unborn child. They will go to great lengths to stand up for the supposed “choice” a woman can make, changing language to soft, non threatening terms like: termination of pregnancy, removal of tissue, correcting a mistake. Indeed, our president used his own daughters in a speech in which he said they should not be “punished with a baby” if they make a “mistake.”
Circumstances aside, Ariel Castro's life was required of him last week following his admission of guilt in the abduction of three women and the murder of an unborn baby. The charge of murder was leveled to ensure additional prison time for this heinous criminal. No such charges are aimed at the doctors who perform murders of unborn children, nor against the women who engage in murder for hire. What then will be required of them, our leaders and our nation? Perhaps we are already beginning to reap what has been sown.
