The Lodge was originally built in 1922 by the Mason to be used as their meeting place. While keeping the elaborately carved pillars of the Masons intact, in 1994 it was remodeled and repurposed into an Indianapolis recording studio that has seen the likes of Weezer, and Queens of the Stone Age. The Lodge not only records big name bands, but local Indianapolis acts as well. They also publish sheet music and make CD’s of the acts they have recorded.
Located in the heart of Indianapolis, this building’s rich history and small but hard working staff can record anything from 34 piece orchestras, to vocal groups, to rock groups. The Lodge is equipped with three studios and state of the art recording technology. However, for those musicians who would like and older, rougher sound, the studio has a large collection of vintage microphones. Recording rates are reasonable and vary depending on the length of time one would like to record. The Lodge’s website details their rates and equipment for those who would like to lay down a track that will live forever.
The Lodge is not only a historical building full of rich Indy history; it is a facility to make Indianapolis music come alive and enrich our community.
