After The Hurricane closed a couple years ago, many Kansas City music fans may have been a bit worried, but The Riot Room opened shortly thereafter at the same location, and it has since become one of the prominent music venues in the metro area. It arguably hosts more local bands than any other venue in the city. If one were to need proof, just look at the upcoming Local Artist Overthrow 2010 event that the venue is hosting.
The Local Artist Overthrow is an indoor/outdoor mini-festival featuring 26 Kansas City-area (and Omaha) bands on two stages, with a different lineup each night. It will be taking place May 20th, 21st, and 22nd, and will coincide with the Westport Beerfest.
Each night doors will open at 7pm, with the first band going on at 8pm. Advanced 3-day passes can be purchased for $20 through www.theriotroom.com or directly at the club. Individual tickets are also available for each night.
$20 for 26 bands is a bargain, so if you are reading this, you'd be silly not to attend this fantastic event that showcases some of the best that Kansas City has to offer.
