Summer is almost upon us (it officially starts this Saturday, June 21), and that means that businesses and organizations all over Central Iowa are kicking off their summer concert series. Jasper Winery, Nitefall on the River, and others have already begun. In nine days, the Jordan Creek area of West Des Moines will see their concert series, Live at the Creek, launch. The series, sponsored by ARAG, will take place at the amphitheater at the Jordan Creek Town Center every Sunday from June 29 through the end of August. Each concert will run from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and all of the concerts are free and open to the public. Patrons are invited to enjoy lakeside dining at one of the five restaurants by the lake or grab a beverage from the beer and wine garden (cash only) provided by the Wine Experience while watching the performances.
The 2014 Live at the Creek will feature performances from the likes of Decoy, the Final Mix Show Band, Brother Trucker, Flipside, Tony Valdez & Retro Rockets, and more. Des Moines rockers Decoy, who released their new five-song EP The Open Road in April, will kick off the series on June 29 with a performance that will precede a fireworks display at dusk. You can check out the band performing their single "The Grind" in the nearby video. Pop Pops Kettle Korn will also be on hand for the opening show of the season to offer snacks for patrons.
