We have recently lost one of our own in the Texas film industry, Tara Coet Felmly. Tara was a shining light as a talent agent in Austin and Dallas. She was the owner in Austin of T. Coet Talent, now the Legacy Talent agency, and a talent agent for the Kim Dawson agnecy in Dallas, especially representing some of the top youth talent in the country. Tara promoted high personal and professional standards. She was a woman of integrity and strong ethics. She was active in her support of the Texas film industry. She was a role model as leader who worked hard for others and served others until she left us, when she lost her battle to cancer. She was 38 years old but left a legacy that will live on in the lives of others who knew her.
Tara was a graduate of Performance Studies and Business from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (UMHB). She was instrumental in facilitating the development of the university’s film program and was active as a mentor and coach in many of the university’s redemptive Cru Films. As a director, actor, writer, producer, and talent agent, Tara Felmly spent most of her life involved in the entertainment industry. She inherited a passion for the business from her actor father. Her daughters, Kendra and Noell, are professional actors. Tara’s husband, Fred, served the business side of the agency. T. Coet (now Legacy) and Kim Dawson talent have been cast in many commercials, industrials, television series and films. Tara influenced many to continue to carry the torch of the values by which she lived. The Tara Coet Felmly Film Scholarship has been established at UMHB in Tara’s honor. To contribute to this scholarship fund, call 254-295-UMHB and ask for the Development Office.
