Nintendo announced via a press release today that their upcoming Wii U adventure, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, will be hitting store shelves in North America and Europe on October 4th. The game previously had a nebulous release period of "October 2013," so it's nice to finally get a confirmed release date.
To help celebrate and promote the game's impending release, Nintendo is adding some special proceedings to the upcoming Seattle, Washington performance of the "Symphony of the Goddesses" Zelda concert tour at Benaroya Hall. Attendees of this particular concert performance will be able to preview The Wind Waker HD as well as the upcoming 3DS sequel The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds at special demo kiosks. Additionally, Nintendo will be displaying a selection of Zelda fan art during the performance, and a contest is currently underway on their Facebook page to determine the art that will be showed. The top 50 winners will have their art displayed during the concert, while the top five artists will also walk away with a Wii U and a copy of The Wind Waker HD as well as have their pieces displayed in the lobby of Benaroya Hall.
Curiously, the existence of a Wind Waker HD Wii U Deluxe bundle that will retail for $350 was recently outed by Destructoid and briefly shown in a recent trailer (embedded in this article) demonstrating the game's new Hero Mode, but Nintendo has not officially confirmed any details about the bundle. Hopefully we'll be receiving official news about that soon now that the game has an official release date.
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD will be out on October 4th for the Wii U in North America and comes with a number of additions, tweaks, and refinements over the original version of the game, which I have previously written about here.
