'The Legend of Korra' gameplay featured at San Diego Comic-Con!

One of the possible covers for 'The Legend of Korra' game coming out this Fall.
Platinum Games, Nickelodeon, Activision

On July 25th, during the San Diego Comic-Con 2014, a demo of ‘The Legend of Korra’ game was featured by Platinum Games. The demo featured the PS4 downloadable version. This game will also come out for Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PS3.

The demo was displayed during the rooftop party on Saturday, lasting anywhere between five to fifteen minutes of gameplay. IGN and Game Spot and other gaming outlets have already scored interviews with Marty Sliva, Atshushi Kurooka (Producer at Platinum), Robert Conkey (Producer at Activision), and Eiro Shirahama (Director at Platinum). The demo itself is very straightforward, and gives a good feel of what the gameplay of the game is expected to be like.

So far, the demo showed that the player would indeed assume the role of Korra and all of her bending powers. Korra can use all four of the elements and she can switch between them within a blink of an eye. Shirahama, Kurooka, and Conkey have stated that each one of the elements that Korra bends with has its own unique fighting style. Respectively, Korra will also encounter a multitude of enemies with various attack patterns and techniques. Each element will work better against certain opponents. The development team pointed out that Earth Benders’ typically have slower, but more powerful attacks, so attacking with quick movements would be best.

Besides the combat system, the demo also had a portion of Korra riding on top of her polar bear dog, Naga, through Republic City. The player can use bending attacks while riding Naga, as well.

In order to use any form of Bending Korra needs to have her ‘MP,’ filled up (although it might be considered her ‘Chi’ in the game). During the boss fight portion of the demo, the Korra is shown performing an ‘ultimate move’ in order to defeat the boss, too. There was no 'Avatar State Attack' that was shown, but it shouldn't be ruled out as a possibility for later in the game.

More can be expected when the game comes out in November of this year. Be on the lookout for more trailers and hints for what this game has in store!
