Platinum Games’ has just announced that they will be releasing a game based of Nickelodeon’s animated series, ‘Avatar: The Legend of Korra.’ ‘The Legend of Korra’ game will be developed in a third-person fighting style, starring the one and only Korra. The player will be able to use all of Korra’s bending talents: Water, Fire, Earth, and Air bending. So far, the game is scheduled to release sometime in Fall 2014.

However, this game will not be available in a hard copy (not at first, anyway). It will be available for download on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, and PC. Price of game has not been confirmed yet.

According to IGN, the game will take place between the second and third season of ‘The Legend of Korra.’ The writing was done by Tim Hedrick, writer and producer for ten episodes of ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ series and for at least two of the comic series. He came back to do five episodes of Book 2 for ‘The Legend of Korra.’

As far as the artistic style of the game goes, viewers have only been given the teaser trailer and a few screen shots. The teaser trailer was in the animated 2D style of the show. Korra appears to be in the spirit world fighting dark spirits, using all of the bending abilities she can muster, before being consumed by a group of dark spirits. It can be assumed that at least the cutscenes might be in the show’s animated style. The graphics of the gameplay hasve been shown via screen shots on IGN’s website, and it shows that even with the animations being in 3D, the show’s style still shines through. The battle-combat system will consist of 3-on-3 teams (like in the Bending Arena), in which Korra must use team tactics in order to defeat the enemies that lay before her.

There will also be a 3DS version of ‘The Legend of Korra’ game that will be released later. However, this one was developed by Webfoot Technologies instead of Platinum Games. The 3DS version is expected to be a little different in gameplay than Platinum’s version.

If you’re a fan of the show, tune in this Friday, June 27th, at 7:00pm (EST) for the premier of ‘The Legend of Korra, Book 3: Change.’
