'The Legend of Hercules' is No. 1 in movies on demand; 'Walter Mitty' is No. 3

"The Legend of Hercules" debuted at No. 1 for movies on demand from April 28 to May 4, 2014, according to Rentrak. In the epic origin story "The Legend of Hercules," Kellan Lutz stars as the mythical Greek hero: the son of Zeus, a half-god, half-man blessed with extraordinary strength. Betrayed by his stepfather, the King, and exiled and sold into slavery because of a forbidden love, Hercules must use his formidable powers to fight his way back to his rightful kingdom. Through harrowing battles and gladiator-arena death matches, Hercules embarks on a legendary odyssey to overthrow the King and restore peace to the land. Most critics disliked "The Legend of Hercules," which bombed at the box office.

"Ride Along" fell from No. 1 to No. 2. Kevin Hart and Ice Cube lead the lineup in "Ride Along," a comedy from the director of "Think Like a Man." When the future brother-in-law (played by Hart) joins a tough undercover officer (played by Ice Cube) on an overnight shift, the wisecracking trainee gets accidentally embroiled in the seasoned cop’s latest case. Now, in order to prove that he is worthy of his future bride, he must survive the most insane night of his life. Also starring John Leguizamo, Tika Sumpter, Bryan Callen and Jay Pharoah. "Ride Along" got mostly negative reviews from critics but was a big hit in cinemas.

"The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" debuted at 3. Ben Stiller directs and stars in "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty," James Thurber's classic story of a daydreamer who escapes his anonymous life by disappearing into a world of fantasies filled with heroism, romance and action. When his job along with that of his co-worker (played by Kristen Wiig) are threatened, Walter takes action in the real world embarking on a global journey that turns into an adventure more extraordinary than anything he could have ever imagined. "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" got mixed reviews from critics and did mediocre business at the box office.

"Labor Day" debuted at No. 4. “Labor Day” centers on 13-year-old Henry Wheeler (played by Gattlin Griffith), who struggles to be the man of his house and care for his reclusive, divorced mother Adele (played by Kate Winslet), while confronting all the pangs of adolescence. On a back-to-school shopping trip, Henry and his mother encounter Frank Chambers (played by Josh Brolin), a man both intimidating and clearly in need of help, who convinces them to take him into their home and later is revealed to be an escaped convict. The events of this long Labor Day weekend will shape them for the rest of their lives. "Labor Day" was a flop with critics and in movie theaters.

"Frozen" dropped from No. 3 to No. 5. In the animated musical “Frozen,” Anna (voice of Kristen Bell), a fearless optimist, teams up with extreme mountain man Kristoff and his sidekick reindeer Sven in an epic journey, encountering mystical trolls, a funny snowman named Olaf, Everest-like extremes and magic at every turn in a race to find Anna’s sister Elsa (voice of Idina Menzel), the Snow Queen, and save their kingdom from eternal winter. "Frozen" won two Oscars: Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song (for "Let It Go"). "Frozen" got excellent reviews from critics and now holds the record for the highest-grossing animated film of all time.
