We are thrilled to announce that The League of Women Voters of San Francisco: Women Who Could Be President Gala is coming up.

This year four local visionaries will be honored. These women have made a great impact in our community as leaders by either helping our community, the environment, the arts, abused children and so much more.

These local leaders will be celebrated at LWVSF’s Annual “Women Who Could Be President” Gala at the Historic City Club of San Francisco on Thursday, March 20.

Chair of event is San Francisco Philanthropist Bianca Velishek.

At a glance the 4 honorees:

Katie Albright, Esq. is the Executive Director of the San Francisco Child Abuse Prevention Center.

Her prior experiences include San Francisco Deputy City Attorney, San Francisco Education Fund Policy Director, and Preschool California Co-Director of Policy & Outreach.

Denise Bradley-Tyson is a certified LBE as designated by the San Francisco Human Rights Commission and also serves as Vice President of the San Francisco Film Commission. She oversaw and led the 2005 launch of the Museum of the African Diaspora in San Francisco.

Sandy Close began reporting on China and Vietnam in the mid-1960s and founded an inner-city newspaper in Oakland before becoming editor of Pacific News Service in 1974. In the 1980s she began developing communications programs with at-risk youth, and in 1996 she founded New America Media, the country’s first association of ethnic media organizations.

Susan A. Sutherland is Senior Vice President at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, with responsibility for the Bank’s Diversity & Inclusion, Equal Employment Opportunity, Human Resources, and Statistics functions, and is the Seattle Branch Manager, responsible for oversight of the Branch’s Board of Directors. Susan also chairs the Board of Directors of the United Way of the Bay Area.
