Recently, The LCL: Bar & Kitchen, located within the Westin New York Grand Central, celebrated the season opening of its sustainable rooftop garden. The ample garden, which is situated on the 41st floor of the hotel, houses vegetable such as mesclun lettuces, heirloom tomatoes, yellow squash, zucchini, and peppers, and herbs such as basil, mint, thyme, oregano and cilantro. Marigold flowers have been planted in the garden as well. All of these local vegetables and herbs are harvested for seasonal menus at The LCL.
During the opening event, guests enjoyed seasonal cocktails such as the Summerthyme Margarita, the Sprig, and the LCL Mojito, and were treated to a selection of items on the seasonal menu such as tomato mozzarella bites, cheeseburgers, and charcuterie and cheese. They also enjoyed brief speeches by Executive Chef Brian Wieler and General Manager Zach Tirone about the rooftop garden and the farm-to-table, locally sourced concept. The hotel will be offering guided tours of the rooftop garden every Thursday starting on May 29 through June 26, free to the public by reservation. The LCL definitely does a great job at preparing fresh, locally sourced, seasonal cocktails and cuisine to create a unique culinary adventure!
