The website Serebii.net has unveiled the latest scans from CoroCoro magazine. These scans were revealed on September 11, 2013, and they reveal a number of new details about “Pokemon X & Y.” One of the most notable reveals is the updated type chart, which reveals the strengths and weaknesses of the new Fairy-type.
The new type chart has revealed what types Fairy is super-effective against and which types it is not very effective against. This type chart can be seen in the tenth image in the slideshow. The chart reveals that Fairy-type attacks will be super effective against Dragon, Fighting, and Dark-type Pokemon, and they will not be effective against Fire, Poison, and Steel-type Pokemon. The chart also reveals that Poison and Steel-type attacks will be super effective against Fairy-types, while Fairy-types will resist attacks from Fighting, Dark, and Bug-type attacks. Also, Dragon-type attacks cannot hit Fairy-types at all, similar to how Normal attacks cannot hit Ghost-types.
Another interesting thing in the new chart involves the Steel-type. Steel-type Pokemon may have lost their resistance to Ghost and Dark-type attacks. This may be just a typo, and has not been confirmed.
The next major detail revealed involves new Mega Evolutions. Mewtwo will have two Mega forms, one for “Pokemon X,” and one for “Pokemon Y.” These forms will also require unique items to be activated. The newly revealed form is exclusive to “Pokemon X,” is a Psychic/Fighting-type, and has the ability Steadfast. The previously revealed Mega form is exclusive to “Pokemon Y.” Another new Mega Evolution was also revealed. The Pokemon Garchomp will now have a Mega form, and will have the ability Sandforce. These two new forms can be seen in the second and third images in the slideshow.
Note that, because only the Japanese names for the following Pokemon have been revealed, their names will not be mentioned in this article.
The next piece of information is the reveal of the first evolutions of the new starters. Chespin’s evolution will still be a pure Grass-type, and will know the move Mud Shot. Therefore, it may become a Grass/Ground-type in its final evolution. Fennekin’s evolution will be a pure Fire-type, and will learn the move Psyshock. Since it learns Psyshock, it is likely that Fennekin’s third form will be Fire/Psychic-type. Froakie’s evolution will be pure Water-type, and will learn the move Bounce. Froakie’s third form might be Water/Flying-type but, since it’s a frog, it may remain as pure Water-type. These new Pokemon can be seen in the first image.
Four other new Pokemon were also revealed. Two of them are the new fossil Pokemon. The first one is a Rock/Dragon Tyrannosaurus Rex. This Pokemon knows a new ability called Hard Jaw, which raises the power of biting moves like Crunch. The second one is a Rock/Ice Diplodocus. This Pokemon knows another new ability called Freeze Skin, which changes Normal-type moves into Ice-types and raises their damage. There is also a new dog-like Normal-type Pokemon, which has the new ability Fur Coat. This ability reduces damage from physical attacks. Finally, a new Psychic-type cat Pokemon was revealed that has very different abilities based on its gender. The male form is more supportive while the female form is an attacker. These new Pokemon can be seen in the fourth image.
Finally, it has been revealed that the player will be able to customize the appearance of their trainer after the initial character creation. An actress in the game will help the trainer change their appearance and these changes will be visible to anyone playing against the trainer.
