Tony Award-winning stage and screen stars Nathan Lane (as Theodore “Hickey” Hickman) and Jeff Award-winner Brian Dennehy (as Larry Slade) are cast in a major revival of Eugene O’Neill’s The Iceman Cometh at Goodman Theatre’s Albert Theatre. Tickets for the show, which runs from April 21 to June 10, are on sale now at 312-443-3800 and at GoodmanTheatre.org. The current ticket price ($53 to $119) is subject to change. 

Geoffrey Jackson joins Victory Gardens in the newly-created position of Director of New Play Development which is responsible for the cultivation, development and production of new plays and theater work, and dramaturgy as well as managing the literary office.  “We are extremely pleased to have Geoffrey complete our artistic staff and return to his hometown of Chicago,” states Artistic Director Chay Yew. I've loved working and collaborating with him on new plays for many years. I know he will bring his immeasurable experience, commitment and passion for new theatre work to Victory Gardens.”

It is the eighth consecutive year, selected students from Northwestern’s Henry and Leigh Bienen School of Music have been invited to perform at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. via the in the the center’s Conservatory Project. This is the first time the school has chosen all the students from the brass program—horn player Mikhailo Babiak; tumpet player Ryan Beach; trombonist Michael Steiger; tubist Bethany Wiese; and trumpet player Steven Woomer. The concert will be streamed live on February 20 at 5:00 CST on the internet. Highland Park student musician Jonas Tarm, who studies violin with the Music Institute of Chicago’s Academy for gifted pre-college musicians, placed first in the Music Teachers National Association’s senior-division composition contest where composers Jeff Smith in New York, Wynn-Anne Rossi in Minnesota and former Chicago Symphony Orchestra Mead Composer-in-Residence Augusta Read Thomas served as judges. Compositions and violin playing by Estonian-born Tarm have also been featured on classical music station WMFT’s program Introductions. His winning piece can be heard on WFMT’s website

A Night Under the Czars, the 28th annual Fantasy of the Opera Gala benefit hosted by Lyric Opera of Chicago’s Guild Board of Directors on January 27 raised more than $470,000. Guests enjoyed “Moscow Mule” cocktails, a Fantasy Cabaret performance, dinner prepared by Limelight Catering, and dancing ’til midnight.
