'The Last West' goes on tour, launches new Kickstarter

"The Last West" co-creators, Lou Iovino and Evan Young, are at it again. Not only does the Philadelphia duo release "The Last West" Volume 1 graphic novel on June 18 everywhere and launch the promotional tour at Barnes & Noble in Center City Philadelphia on the same day, but they have launched a new Kickstarter campaign to fund the second, and final, volume of their story.

"The Last West" is an alternate history tale about the loss of all technological innovation. What happens when, beginning with the failure of the first test of the atomic bomb in 1945, all advancements in technology cease and there is no end to the second World War? The key to ending a half century long world conflict may just come down to one man, Stephen West, the last West.

After a successful Kickstarter campaign to fund the first half of the epic, Iovino and Young are now ready to share their tale with the masses. And share it they shall. It starts with a release party at Philadelphia's Rittenhouse Barnes & Noble location, where the pair will be reading from the first graphic novel and signing copies, beginning at 7PM. Immediately following the signing, at 8PM, the authors will host a writing group discussion on, "How to Fund Your Artistic Project Using Kickstarter."

Beginning on Thursday, June 19, Young and Iovino will appear for all four days at the Wizard World Philadelphia Comic Convention, where they will have a booth in Artists Alley. The writers will then wrap up this leg of the tour with a signing at the Brave New Worlds Old City location on June 25, beginning at 4PM.

But, that is not all, folks. Iovino and Young, along with series artist Novo Malgapo, colorist Liezl Buenaventura, letterer Kel Nutall and cover artist Kody Chamberlain, have launched a new Kickstarter campaign in order to complete the tale. After just over a week, the crew has already met their initial $5,000 goal, so "the Last West" will have its proper conclusion. Now, the project is working towards its first stretch goal, the inclusion of a "deleted scene."

Follow the "The Last West" tour, beginning at the Rittenhouse Barnes & Noble on June 18 at 7PM, then at Wizard World Philly from June 19-22 and, finally, June 25 at the Brave New Worlds Old City location at 4PM. "The Last West" Volume 2 Kickstarter campaign runs through July 10 and, as of this writing, has $5,289 in pledges. "The Last West" Volume 1, published by Alterna Comics, is in comic shops everywhere on June 18.
