The event features a Q&A and signing with author Peter S. Beagle, as well as the opportunity to buy "The Last Unicorn" books and affiliated merchandise, win prizes and take photos with Peter.
Beagle is on a United States tour screening the new digital print of "The Last Unicorn." The movie features the voices of Mia Farrow, Jeff Bridges, Alan Arkin, Angela Landsbury, Rene Auberjenois and Christopher Lee. First published as a novel in 1968, Beagle also crafted "The Last Unicorn" screenplay for the 1982 film.
According to the tour's promotional material, there is incentive for southern California fans to spread the word.
"Prize, Part One: Anybody who comes up to Peter's signing table this week in Newport Beach, Murrieta, or San Diego, and says "The RAVEN sent me," will get a free 35mm film frame from an actual 1982 theatrical print of The Last Unicorn, in a protective glassine envelope signed by Peter.
Prize, Part Two: These self-identified winners will then be asked who told them about the screening...and that person will get a film frame prize as well, even if they aren't there! (We'll mail them out next week, after we get home.)"
The tour's website also offers this information about the Newport Beach event:
The Lido show in particular is going to be amazing: it’s a restored classic movie palace and it will have a red carpet and everything, thanks to the Newport Beach Film Festival, our partner for the screening. So don’t miss it!
The goal of the tour is to give as many people as possible a chance to meet Peter and see "The Last Unicorn" the way it was created to be seen — in a movie theater. There will be screenings across America through the end of 2015, as well as major cities in Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Australia, New Zealand and Japan.
