After the longest wait in the history of man, The Last Story has finally been confirmed for North America. It turns out publishing duties will be handed over to XSEED. Though the Wii is practically dead in terms of software, Baltimore gamers should look forward to this release.
The Last Story coming to North America is a nice surprise. Thanks should be given to XSEED for allowing more gamers to enjoy this supposedly great role playing game. Nintendo is obviously afraid to release the game because it fears no one will purchase the product in North America. Why else would another publisher have to step up to the plate? The company published the game in every other territory, so why is it deciding not to publish the title in the land where the Wii’s userbase is the largest? One could argue that Nintendo is not publishing The Last Story because it is trying to prepare for the launch of the Wii U, but that would just be an excuse. The Last Story has been out in Japan since early 2011. Nintendo could have gotten things ready for the North American launch a long time ago. There is no reason that North American gamers should have had to wait this long for confirmation of a title that is already over a year old.
Regardless of when the The Last Story should have been out, the fact of the matter remains that the game is finally coming to North America. Consumers should be happy that they can get more play time out of their systems. Nintendo needs to step it up if it wants the Wii U to be successful. The Company needs to work on better localizing strategies in the future.
