The 1984 sci-fi pic “The Last Star Fighter” is on the slate for either a remake or a sequel. Some sources are calling it a remake but people like composer Craig Safan who worked on the original says a sequel script has already been written. The original director Nick Castle has been attached to direct the project.
The film focused on a young video game playing wiz kid, dreaming of a life outside the trailer park he grew up in that gets a once in a lifetime shot at becoming a starfighter when he beats a video game designed to find someone qualified for the job.
The 25th Anniversary DVD will hit stores later this year and there will be theatrical screenings for the original film in select cities.
The 1981 creepy stop motion film based on mythological creatures, and characters “Clash Of The Titans” is slated for a remake. The original film, directed by Desmond Davis, and written by Beverley Cross, tells the story of Perseus and his quest to battle both Medusa and the Kraken monster to save the Princess Andromeda.
Here is what the master of stop motion, Ray Harryhausen, had to say when approached with the news of the remake:
Director Stephon Norrington, director of "Blade" and "League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen", has agreed to direct the pic while Lawrence Kasdan has signed on to write the screenplay. Sam Worthington has already been cast as the lead to play Perseus, with Liam Neeson cast to play Zeus.Though much of the film has been cast one major role is still unknown and that is who will play Medusa?
The film is set to receive a 2010 release. Is it just me or would this kind of be cool in 3-D?
