Last night on “The Last Ship” following the captain being captured by the Russians the XO Mike Slaterry –AdamBaldwin- had to face the decision of complying with the kidnappers demands of handing over Dr Scott in exchange for the detainees.

Dr. Scott herself was sure that she had managed to create a vaccine using the blood from a survivor found aboard another vessel, despite the rest of the people on board the boat dying from the disease, the girl had managed to remain untouched by the virus. The decision was made to send Dr. Scott and along with the suppose cure a gun that she would use to take some of her captors down. Also, a small rescue team was prepared to extract the captain and the private security man they found back in Cuba a few episodes back. The Russian ship also carries a scientist who injected himself with the virus and claims to have metabolized the infection in such a way that he has become immune. Dr. Scott, once on board the ship was instructed by the Russian captain to inject one of his men with the virus and see if her vaccine really works, but captain Chandler along with his fellow detainee had plans of their own and manage to subdue the man keeping watch over them and proceed to seek a way out, and in the process were met with the men sent from his ship to extract them. And along the way they also took Dr. Scott assistant’s wife and daughter who were being held captive on the Russian vessel, a fight ensued but they all managed to escape the ship while this exploded only one American sailor was shot and died.

This is a fascinating story that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats, the illness that has ravaged the world along with the human factor of those on the ship who struggle to find a cure, stay alive and deal with their own personal questions regarding their loved ones back home; makes this story riveting, exciting, and heartfelt.
