Several retailers have changed the release date for the upcoming PS4 video game, “The Last of Us Remastered.” According to a report from Dual Shockers on April 26, The Amazon, Best Buy and Target websites are no longer listing a June 20 launch for the port. Amazon and Target is now posting a placeholder date of Dec. 31 while Best Buy is indicating that a date has not yet been provided.
A user from Reddit also reported that he received an email from the Canadian branch of Amazon stating that “The Last of Us Remastered” is now expected to ship on Jan. 5. The date falls on a Monday although most software products are usually released on Tuesday. Sony Computer Entertainment has only confirmed that “The Last of Us Remastered” would be coming out sometime later this summer. The changes suggest that the video game may have been delayed. Alternatively, the publisher may have simply asked the retailers to take down the June 20 release date.
“The Last of Us Remastered” is a port of “The Last of Us,” which came out for the PS3 in 2013. The PS4 version features several graphical enhancements such as 1080p native resolution support, improved character models along with better lighting and shadows. Furthermore, the development team is also aiming to increase the frame rate to 60 per second. You can find a screen of the original version from the official Sony Computer Entertainment Facebook page with the photo located on top of this article.
The PS3 iteration of “The Last of Us” ended up winning numerous “Game of the Year” awards in 2013. It was also a financial success, selling more than six million copies worldwide so far. The release of “The Last of Us Remastered” on the PS4, which should also come with some improvements to the gameplay as well, should further boost the sales for the video game.
