'The Last of Us' demo release announced

Developer Naughty Dog has announced a demo release for their upcoming game, “The Last of Us”. This was reported by IGN’s Luke Karmali on Jan. 24. “Sony has just revealed how you can get first access to the demo of the game,” he says in his video post.

The demo will be available for anyone who purchases “God of War: Ascension” on March 12 in North America, and March 13 in the UK. On the title screen for the game, there will be a listing for “The Last of Us”. “Selecting this will reveal how the free demo can be accessed as soon as it becomes available,” Karmali writes.

As can be guessed, this means the demo won’t be available right as “God of War: Ascension” is. It also isn’t clear if it will be available to PlayStation owners in general, for those who haven’t bought Kratos’ new adventure.

“Now this is pretty exciting news,” Karmali writes. “Up until now, all we've seen of the game is Naughty Dog employees leading presentations at various high profile events. No one's actually been hands-on with the game, which has led many to speculate, somewhat pessimistically, that the title will handle and feel almost exactly like the studio's last action-adventure franchise, Uncharted.”

“The Last of Us” is scheduled for an official release on May 7, 2013 for the PlayStation 3.
