Neil Druckmann has provided a new update in regards to the future projects for Naughty Dog. In an interview with Eurogamer on Feb. 7, the creative director revealed that his development team has completed the production of the “Left Behind” DLC for “The Last of Us.”
As a result, he has moved on to future projects. Neil Druckmann have been “brainstorming some stuff” along with Bruce Straley for “The Last of Us 2” and a new franchise. The other development team at Naughty Dog has already moved on to work on the next “Uncharted” video game, which could be called “Uncharted 4,” for the PS4. You can find the comments from the creative director below:
We have started brainstorming some stuff. To be honest, some of them are sequel ideas, and some of them are brand new IP - we've spent the last few weeks brainstorming new IP. So we have to get some good steps and see... It's kind of like how we approached Left Behind. Can we tell people a story that's really worth telling, and that's not repeating itself? And if we can't, where can we get inspired - what is something that's really going to challenge us, and push storytelling in this medium forward?
Naughty Dog was split into two development teams after the completion of “Uncharted 2: Among Thieves” in 2009. One side developed “Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception,” which came out in 2011, and is now working on the aforementioned “Uncharted” title exclusively for the PS4.
The other is a group led by Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley that created “The Last of Us.” The survival-horror action-adventure video game won numerous “Game of the Year” awards last year despite stiff competition from other titles like “GTA 5.” The “Left Behind” single-player expansion pack should be coming out on Feb. 14th through the Playstation Store of the PS3. You can take a look at some screens of the title in the gallery to the left of this article.
Sony Computer Entertainment is the publisher for “The Last of Us” along with all games in the “Uncharted” series.
