"The Last Laugh"--A recommended read

I stood on the bridge just before midnight, the wind from the ocean arriving in violent blasts, as if saying under its breath, 'Jump, motherf***er, jump.' This was the last of a string of attempted departures, most orchestrated in my tired mind. Always a bitter reminder of all that had been lost and destroyed by my foolishness."

The Last Laugh, by Arjuna Ardagh, is the story of Matt Thomson, who lives with a painful regret after a bad decision costs him his wife, his children, his job, his money, and the rest of his assets. After several suicide attempts, Matt meets a man named Joey Murphy--an ex-merchant Marine, entrepreneur, and teacher--who leads Matt on a journey that not only forces Matt to face his demons, but also the struggles he'll have to endure in order to get back on his feet again and to win his family back.

The story is heartbreaking, yet it is inspiring, funny, deep, and provides a sense of hope.
