The Last Fall director reacts to movie’s selection to the SXSW Film Festival

It’s only fitting that during Super Bowl week a former football player turned filmmaker would end up in the movie world’s version of a big game. When the film selections were announced last week for the 2012 SXSW Film Festival which will take place March 9 through 17 in Austin Texas, Director Matthew A. Cherry’s The Last Fall was among them. This will be the world premiere for his film which will screen in the Emerging Visions category. Examiner.com reached out to Cherry for his reaction to the honor and he was gracious enough to send us a statement.

“We all feel extremely excited and blessed to have our film be apart of the prestigious SXSW film festival which is among the top festivals in the world. I am thankful to Janet Pierson for the opportunity to showcase our work and I look forward to showing a side of sports that has rarely been captured in film. Independent film is alive and well and we are glad to have an opportunity to be included in the conversation.”
