The title of "Best Band in the Southeast" is certainly a coveted honor.  Especially when it comes with a record deal and a European tour.  Spectra Records, based out of N. Charleston, SC, is trying to decide which band deserves these accolades via a good old fashioned Battle of the Bands.  And the opening round is taking place right here in the Queen City.

Charlotte bands are getting the first crack at The Last Band Standing competition, a showcase for Southeast bands being put on by Spectra.  The show, featuring ten bands for only $15, takes place at the Neighborhood Theatre in NoDa on Saturday, January 16th.  The venue is one of Charlotte's finest, featuring pristine sound quality and smooth atmosphere.

The lineup consists of a myriad of local acts, from rockers like All Thee Above and Echo Code to inventively named pop-punk outfits Grown Up Avenger Stuff and We Shout Goodnight!.  So if you want to support local music, experience one of Charlotte's best live music venues and have a part in deciding who the best band in the Southeast is, you know where to go.

It was a great night of music. Congrats to Grown Up Avenger Stuff and Hephystus, both, for being selected! All the bands were excellent, and it was well attended. The right way to kick off 2010 - with an amazing musical event.
