The ladies of ‘Downton Abbey’ bring British flair to Golden Globes

Michelle Dockery and Laura Carmichael looked quite different from their characters on “Downton Abbey” last night as they attended the 71st Golden Globes at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. According to E! News on Jan. 12, the two British ladies were gorgeous as they took to the red carpet that brought out the best entertainers in the business.

Dockery, who plays the newly widowed Lady Mary on the PBS series, took on a princess look with a sequined pale-colored dress by Oscar de la Renta. The strapless gown featured an ankle-length front hemline with the back just barely touching the red carpet, showing off her beige satiny heels. Her dark hair really stood out, making this look just perfect on her.

Laura Carmichael made an entrance on the red carpet wearing a black and white column dress by Viktor and Wolf. This sexy strapless gown was certainly different from any that you would find in Lady Edith’s wardrobe. The 27-year-old actress wore her shoulder-length blond hair in a sleek and elegant style.

Both “Downton Abbey" stars had darker eye makeup to bring out the color in their choice of light-colored dresses. However, Carmichael chose a paler lip color, while Dockery went with a pop of scarlet red on her lips.

The hit PBS show was up for Best TV Drama but lost out to “Breaking Bad.” The girls would have looked quite lovely on stage accepting an award but they were both looking like they were happy to be there, despite the loss.
