It might finally be turning into winter here in Nashville… better late than never! If you’re willing to venture out in search of good music this weekend, though, why not take in some local rock?
The Kingston Springs are, obviously, from nearby Kingston Springs, TN. What’s more impressive, though, is that they formed while still in high school – just a few years ago. One of their first big gigs was at Next Big Nashville in 2010, but since then they’ve been playing with acts like Matt Costa and The Features. More impressive, though, is that they’ve played at Lollapalooza, South by Southwest, and Austin City Limits.
The band features Alexander Geddes on bass, Matthew DeMaio on drums, James Guldry on guitar and keys, and Ian Furguson on vocals. The Kingston Springs have two EPs under their belts already, and spent most of the past summer working on their first full length album. They hope to release the new album in early 2012.
The youngsters are already making fans wherever they go… check out some of the praise they’ve received:
"The Kingston Springs strike me as a young Black Keys, under-produced and with an unrefined bass guitar running rampant.” - The Huffington Post
"Yet another promising young act to bubble up from Nashville that isn't country. Think Cage The Elephant meets The Kooks, maybe with some Strokes in there for good measure, and you're close to their sound." - Future Sounds
