Tonight at El Cid Mexican Joint in Silverlake, The King's English will take the stage to get all of the Senoritas dancing. They are joined by an army of kick-ass groups including Emerson Star, J.C. August, and Send Medicine. All you will need to bring is your dancing shoes and the boys from King's will do the rest. Unless you have maracas...then bring your maracas.
The King's English is an up-and-coming local LA band that you don't want to miss, and a little birdie told me that they may even be playing some new material. Always upbeat and full of groovy licks and catchy riffs, The King's English always put on a good show.
With Derek Brambles belting out the sweet and catchy vocals, Eric Johnson laying down the fat bass beats, and Nick Setter shredding earlobes on lead guitar, the guys fuse together a sound that is indescribable. But if it had to be described in one word, that totally-not-made-up word would be: Funtabulous. They also have a super cute drummer.
The doors open at 9pm. Come early to make sure you get a chance to see all the artists shoot their art at you with loud amplification devices in a confined area. The band Emerson Star in particular has been known to cause its listeners to experience multiple eargasms. You've been warned.
Every act playing tonight is going places. Wouldn't you like to see them now so that in like ten years you can tell your friends “Whatever, I saw those guys at El Cid in Silverlake before they became all 'Hollywood' and went to all those places”?!
El Cid on Sunset in Silverlake tonight, Friday, February 21st 2014 at 9pm. You can be there or you can be square, but circles are way cooler. Just saying.
