The Kin returns to Des Moines on Tuesday night

Des Moines was introduced to New York "danger pop" band The Kin in November when the band opened for pop powerhouse Pink on her Truth About Love Tour. On Tuesday, February 12, Des Moines music fans will be able to see the band close up as The Kin returns to Des Moines in a more intimate setting, Vaudeville Mews. You can catch the trio headlining the small Downtown Des Moines venue tomorrow night with opening acts Finish Ticket and Oh Honey. Tickets for the show are $10 in advance through Ticketfly or $12 at the door. Doors at the Mews will open at 6 p.m., and the music will start at 6:30 p.m. This will be an all ages concert.

The Kin honed their skills in New York City, performing what they call "musical robberies". The band will walk into a place (a restaurant was their first) and just begin playing for a crowd. The trio has since expanded their crime radius. They have captured ears in a French airport, at the Sundance Film Festival, at SXSW, and even at the Drake Library when they were in town with Pink. The librarian at Drake kicked them out.

The Kin is different in more ways than just one. Besides their flash mob-style impromptu concerts, the band has a drummer, known only as Shakerleg, who plays the drums with his bare hands. The band has a unique vibe, and they have an incredibly tight sound on stage. The Kin released their debut EP, Get On It, last October, and now they plan on releasing their first full-length major label album later this year. You can check out a clip from their tour with Pink in the nearby video.

This promises to be a great show, but if you are not lucky enough to be able to go see them tomorrow night, maybe you will get to see them perform where you pick up your morning just never know.
