The Kardashians may be the victims of “swatting” after a 911 call came into the Los Angeles County sheriffs office on Friday. They are currently looking for the person who called in the false emergency according to ABC News on Jan. 20.
“Swatting” is a hoax that is intended to get officers and specialized SWAT teams sent to a home when the 911 call is false. Steve Whitmore, the sheriff’s spokesman, said it was still too soon to tell if the Kardashians were victims of “Swatting.”
The 911 call was directed to the Kardashians former house in Malibu. The house is now empty and the Kardashians live about 20 miles away in a new home in Hidden Hills.
Kim Kardashian was very upset by the fake 911 call and even went to Twitter to say it was dangerous and not funny.
California law enforcement agencies are going to lobby state lawmakers to make “swatting” a felony. It is a very dangerous thing and takes law officials away from more important calls.
The Kardashians are not the first to be victims of “swatting.” Just last week the police responded to a false report of an armed robbery at Tom Cruise’s Beverly Hills home.
