According to ABC News, on October 12, 2013, the ‘Just Move” collection of postage stamps have been pulled from market, because the activity on the stamps has been deemed unsafe by federal officials. The ‘Just Move” stamp collection was supposed to promote the government fitness campaign, "Let's Move", a cause that is especially important to the first lady, Michelle Obama.
The questionable fitness activities included skateboarding with a helmet or kneepads, cannonballing in a swimming pool and doing a headstand without a helmet to protect the head. There was a total of 15 stamps, the federal officials objected to three of the stamps.
The stamps will not be destroyed nor sold, as of now, according to a White House representative. According to Roy Betts, a USPS spokesman had this to say about the breaking story, “The story is an accurate account, except that the stamps being destroyed. The stamps are as of now on hold, a decision on what to do with them will be decided later”.
This decision seems like the White House and USPS are telling the Americans that unless it is a super safe fitness activity, the children should not be doing it. Much of the activity children are doing is dare devil type sports. Shouldn’t we promote all physical activity, instead of just the traditional sports?
