The Julie Ruin has cancelled a series of tour dates including a headlining set at New York City's 2014 4Knots Music Festival. The band's lead singer, legendary punk icon Kathleen Hanna announced she is experiencing a Lyme Disease relapse after years of suffering with the disorder. This diagnosis will prohibit her from travelling with the band in the summer. Dinosaur Jr. has been announced as the replacement headliner for this year's 4Knots Music Festival.
Dinosaur Jr. is a male trio rock group originally from Massachusetts, and the band has a more classic sound than the punchy new wave punk sound of The Julie Ruin. The Village Voice has only announced a partial artist lineup for The 2014 4Knots Music Festival so far. Those Darlins, Speedy Ortiz, Radkey, Viet Cong, Nude Beach, and Juan Wauters were announced last week with the previous headliner. These acts will still join Dinosaur Jr. onstage at South Street Seaport.
4Knots will sound off near Pier 17 in downtown Manhattan on Saturday, July 12 at 1 in the afternoon. Concertgoers of all ages will be able to attend the rain or shine show. The seven-hour long fest will happen on two stages, expanding its reach after the annual event's first two successful years in the area.
After the 4Knots Music Festival's outdoor get-up ends at 8 p.m., The Village Voice will host a ticketed after party with live music that night at Webster Hall in the East Village. Details on how to get into the after party have not yet been announced.
