The Joyride Taco House: a taste of the Baja in the city

See also

The Joyride Taco House in Phoenix is a recently opened restaurant located on Central Avenue just north of Camelback. Locally owned and operated, this joyride-themed, adorable taco place takes one back to the era of convertibles, classic auto lines, and great casual eating. Just look around at the over-sized turquoise and tufted seating much like the upholstery seating in a car. Or, notice the steering wheel handles on the sinks in the bathrooms. Then, there’s the large garage-like doors open that open up so that the indoors flow out into the large wrap-around patio spaces.

But, delicious is how you’ll find their great food. Tacos are served family-style on made-to-order corn tortillas. Choose from slow roasted chicken with avocado and slaw, vegetarian with pico, grilled or beer-battered fish, or braised beef tacos, to name just a few. While tacos are their specialty, menu items also include chimis, burritos, soups, salads, and especials. There’s a variety of cocteles (including their specialty margaritas), vinos, and agua frescas (booze or no booze) on the drink menu.

Hours are Monday – Thursday: 11am – 11pm; Fridays and Saturdays: 11am – 12am; and Sundays: 11am – 10pm. Happy hour is daily ‘til 5:00 pm with $5 cocteles, agua frescas, pitchers of beer, or glasses of wine.

The address is 5202 N. Central Avenue, Phoenix, and the phone number is (602) 274-8226.
