Atlanta, get ready to meet Josh Hill. Or, if you caught him in a rare Atlanta appearance before, get ready to discover The Josh Hill Band all over again!
Josh Hill is a singer-songwriter from Lincoln, Nebraska. He recorded his first album, Come Closer, in 2008 and built an enthusiastic Nebraska following. Recently, he moved to Huntsville, Alabama to be closer to the Atlanta, Memphis, and Nashville music scenes and formed The Josh Hill Band with Dylan Roth on drums and Sean Hopkins on bass. The band has performed two national tours and numerous club dates and released a second album, Still Frames, in November 2010. Now they are ready to share their unique music with Atlanta audiences at Smith's Olde Bar in Atlanta on January 23rd!
It is hard to categorize Hill's music, but "pop-blues" seems like a pretty good description. Neil Sandhoefne of The Omaha Weekly Reader explained, “The band finds the border, which I didn’t know existed, between pop music and the blues.”
I would agree with that statement. Don't come expecting traditional blues, but do come expecting great music which clearly shows the blues influence in its contemporary sound.
So come on out to Smith's Olde Bar, 1578 Piedmont Ave. NE, and give The Josh Hill a listen! I think you'll like what you hear!
