The Jacksonville Chapter of Oath Keepers holds its First Meeting of the Year….

Constitutional Expert Ken Wood Featured Speaker

The Jacksonville Chapter of the Oath Keepers held its first meeting of the year this morning. The well attended meeting met at 8909 Bay Meadows Road, Jacksonville, Florida. According to Mike Austell, Oath Keeper Florida State Chapter President, the Jacksonville Chapter meets on the third Saturday of each month. Meetings start at 10:00 AM. Mr. Austell stated, “There has been a great increase in inquiries regarding Oath Keepers and new people attending since Obama started his ‘Gun Control’ efforts.”

Ken Wood presented his views regarding the Declaration of Independence, the US Constitution and the main point of his discussion, the Bill of Rights. Of particular interest, were his comments regarding the importance of the 2nd Amendment. In his view, the founders considered an armed population as a major part of national defense. An invasion of a country with its citizens armed would be less likely. Mr. Wood used the attack on Pearl Harbor as an example. The Japanese invaded all of the attack points in WW2, except Pearl Harbor. The reason he cited was that the American population was armed. “Without the ‘Right to bear arms’, the Founders believed that the other rights recited in the Bill of Rights could not be defended,” Mr. Wood said. The Oath Keepers in attendance received Ken Wood’s views and opinions with a standing ovation.
