The 'Jackie Brown' prequel gets some new cast members

A prequel to the Quentin Tarantino directed “Jackie Brown” has been in the works for a little while now, but some last minute casting additions has brought it back to our attention.

Variety learned yesterday that Tim Robbins (“Green Lantern”) and Will Forte (“MacGruber”) have taken over for Ty Burrell and Dennis Quaid.

Written and to be directed by Dan Schechter, the film is set 15 years before Tarantino's blaxploitation riff, "Switch" follows the earlier adventures of Louis Gara (John Hawkes (“The Sessions”), taking over for Robert De Niro) and Ordell Robbie (Yasiin Bey, taking over for Samuel L. Jackson (“Django Unchained”)) as they get caught up in a kidnapping scheme up in Detroit.

The pair of criminals orchestrate a plan to take the wife of a corrupt real estate developer (Jennifer Aniston), but have their plans foiled when it turns out the husband doesn't want her back. From there Louis and Ordell decide to team up with the wife for a bit of payback.

Robbins will now take over the part of the real estate developer and Forte will play a man who has a serious crush on the wife.

I don’t know how I feel about a prequel to a Tarantino film that lacks his writing and style, but I’m willing to give this one a shot based on the fact that John Hawkes is in it.
