The young foal left behind after his severely beaten mother was euthanized in Wicklow, Ireland, went missing for some time. The mystery surrounding this foal who so bravely stood over his dead mother’s body has now been clarified. On Dec. 14, the Irish Horse Welfare Trust confirmed on its Facebook page that the orphaned foal, called Hero, is in its care and is safe and sound. The charity has promised to keep the public updated about Hero.
Police is anxious to receive information from a possible witness or anyone in the public that comes forward and makes a statement. The charity is also requesting assistance from the public that may help to apprehend those guilty in the heinous attack on the mother horse.
The case has received unprecedented publicity in the social media. The public is outraged by the behavior of the group of men that attacked the mare and severely beat her. A €500 reward has been posted in the case.
At this time, authorities may have an idea who owned the horse.
The gardai cannot accomplish an arrest without help from the public or a witness that steps forward.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Wicklow police on 0404 60140.
