In a leaked memo from AT&T, we learn that the launch day of the iPhone 3GS was their best-ever sales day for the AT&T retail stores and the second-largest traffic day. They also had the most transactions processed for a single day, the most upgrade eligibility checks, the largest order day ever at att.com and the largest features sales day at att.com.
I guess what they are saying is that it was a good day.
But it gets even better for the iPhone 3GS. ConsumerReports ranks it as the best smartphone available, edging out the Palm Pre and the BlackBerry Storm. The iPhone 3GS scored high marks based on its "superior display, reinforced by top-notch multimedia, navigation, Web browsing, and battery life."
And I'm sure it would have ranked even higher if AT&T had been on the ball with tethering and MMS messaging.
The only major downside of the iPhone 3GS noted in the report was voice quality, which ConsumerReports was quick to point out that few phones score well in voice quality.
