Kala Ambrose, host of the Explore Your Spirit with Kala Show speaks with authors and researchers, delving into topics of ancient mysteries, metaphysical explorations and new discoveries from science and spiritual arenas. Transcribed here is an interview Kala conducted with Lynne McTaggart about her books - The Intention Experiment and The Field and her work on the study of thought and consciousness. *Special Thanks to TaDa Transcripts for providing the transcript of this Explore Your Spirit audio interview.

Kala: I believe that we’re all energy beings, light beings, and we’re all connected, we’re all one with everything in the universe. Many people don’t agree with or understand that at this point. To me, the fact that you focused on algae and a leaf and made that connection, only further proves the point as far as I’m concerned on how everything in this world is interconnected and that we have to pay attention to everything from the tiniest algae, germ, whatever it is, it's all connected with our thoughts. Sometimes something in nature can be more outstanding and inspirational to people than having put the focus on another human in the beginning.

Lynne: Well absolutely. At first I was poo-pooing algae and then I researched it and I realized that algae are kind of the fireman of the sea because they protect much of the marine life from the worst excesses of modern man, pollution and warming and things like that and algae are dying in great numbers; so if we could affect and make algae healthier, that could again have an enormous implication on pollution and global warming. Also, when algae mutate, they can help create a certain kind of bio fuel. So once again, this is something that we’re going to be looking at as one of our future experiments that we’re really interested in - trying to affect bio fuel and trying to create more bio fuel by helping algae to mutate quicker. This has a huge implication. The leaf experiment we tried it then, and then we tried it over the internet; inviting people around the globe; all my readers to be involved and we had thousands of people from many countries involved and we had an effect. This is on seeds, similar light experiment and we tried the same leaf experiment one summer when I was speaking before a group in Los Angeles. Once again, every time the leaves were at the Tucson, Arizona lab at the University of Arizona with Dr. Gary Schwartz and his team. So they set up the experiments under rigorous conditions and we sent it from all of these remote distances. Dr. Schwartz and I were pretty excited about our first experiment, so we decided to move on to seed and we thought “Well let’s see what we can do with seed. Let’s see if we can do something to something; maybe speed up the process”. So we’d looked at some data showing that people praying for seeds; make them grow faster. We thought, “Let’s send intention to seeds and see if we can get the seeds to sprout quicker and grow faster.

So, this time the scientists had not just one control but three sets of control; that meant three seeds were not sent intention and one set was going to. Once again they didn’t know which one that we’re going to send intention to. So for our first experiment here, I was speaking around the world and I decided to run this first one in Sydney, Australia. Once again the seeds were back in Tucson, Arizona, thousands and thousands of miles away. We sent intention to one set of seeds, we chose them in the audience; I just showed them a picture of the seed; and they were just seeds and lots of seeds in seed pockets and afterwards, Dr. Schwartz planted four sets of seeds without knowing which one was sent intention to and measured when they sprouted and how quickly they grew and once again we had a significant effect. I ran a similar study over the internet with thousands of people, we had an effect; I ran it Rhinebeck, New York with only a hundred people at a special workshop, and we had an effect. We had the biggest effect of all when I ran it with five hundred experienced healers in South Carolina and that was interesting. The seeds grew as twice as fast as the others, and twice as high as the other controlled. That to me was the first indication that experience matters, an experienced team makes things work more quickly.

Kala: Experience does have a powerful and outstanding implication. I like that you used seeds, which relays back to thoughts. People are always chasing the big experience at the end of the road and they think that’s what’s most important. I like to teach that it’s what you do everyday, the seeds of thought that you have everyday, the actions that you do everyday that really translate into how your life turns out at the end of the road.

Lynne: Absolutely. I hope people will begin to understand these implications. We’ve moved on to water. We did two other studies showing that we can change the cluster structure of water, which the emission from water which is really important because that’s the first step towards showing that we can clean up polluted water. One of the exciting things is that we’ve moved from these first baby steps; those water experiments with Dr. Constantine Karadkov, a Russian physicist very well known for looking at light emissions from all living things including water. Now we’re moving on to practical ones. We are working with Dr. Gary Schwartz and Deepak Chopra's team to create a violence study that would look at certain areas of violence and tend to lower them with our thoughts. We’re working on developing a very sophisticated water study with Dr. Rustin Roy at the Arizona State University, we’re looking at changing, mutating bacteria in polluted water. Now, bacteria mutate really easily, so this is a really good study. Because if we can show we can mutate bad bacteria into good stuff or bacteria that doesn’t harm humans, then that is a fantastic leap forward in trying to clean up polluted water, so we’re working on that.

Kala: Yes, translating like you said in the beginning with your thoughts about curing cancer. If you learn with the water and with the seeds, it would be the same concept with the cells in cancer,  being able to go from the inside out. Wouldn't you say?

Lynne: Absolutely. I mean this is the interesting thing is these have huge implications in all sorts of ways. We always have to remember water is such an important target because we are 80% water; plants are nearly a hundred percent water.  Living things are primarily water and if we can turn polluted and discourtened water into organized and ordered water, then we have all kinds of abilities to help heal people, plants, and the planet.

Kala: Water is so important. You’re speaking about changing things, mutating them and helping them return to their divine placement, their highest placement. What about spontaneous type things? Could the next leap be to cause reactions like the shamans in the past with their rain dances, which would make it rain. Is it possible to take these thoughts and make spontaneous actions occur like having rain in a drought?

Lynne: Well, in the Intention Experiment, I do talk about that there was a drought once in one area and they were so desperate, it was in South America I think. They were so desperate they finally called in a couple of witch doctors basically who did a rain dance, a simple rain dance and the heavens opened and it was so much. There had been fires, there had been all kinds of problems and it was simply sorted by a little dance, so that is a beautiful example of the power of intention. Now to bring this into the laboratory, what we’re looking at in the first stage is Dr. Schwartz and I are building an ecosphere which is like a little mini world; a self-enclosed glass universe with plants and little primitive animals like brine shrimp and algae and we’re going to ask people to try to lower the temperature. Now, if we can do that and just see even if it’s a fraction of a degree, that will again have huge implications on our ability to affect weather, affect climate, affect global warming.

Kala: If I can just run with that thought here for a minute, we could take that all the way into the future of repairing the earth in many ways including the ozone or other problems that have been caused by global warming. I guess there really is no limit when we consider it all.

Lynne: Absolutely. Again, this global experiment is going to carry on. I mean the global laboratory is going to be trying all sorts of things and as we learn, each time we learn, we try something more and that’s the exciting thing with it is we involve more scientists, we get more people involved, we have them doing more things together and we learn more things as a result. We find out whether there are any limits to the power of our thoughts.

Kala: Lynne, you are an inspiration. I love empowered women that really are doing everything that women can do best to change the world and make a difference - taking thoughts from being focused on war and control and handling things with a tight fist. I think the purpose of the feminine energy in this world is to show that there’s ways to allow the fist, the hand, to open and reach out and connect and do things in a peaceful way and this a perfect example. I vote you for Woman of the Year. I think it’s amazing what you’re doing.

Lynne: That’s really sweet, thank you very much.

Kala: You have good intentions. <chuckling>

Lynne: There was an article that I just read that is so interesting about the fact that women don’t seem to be hard wired to win. They don’t have that kind of need and they are washed in oxytoxin which is the hormone that’s responsible for the ecstasy of birth and the feeling that women have in nurturing and care taking. I think they looked at a lot of women who were women executives. They found just a small percentage will take those top jobs because they just don’t want to sacrifice their family and they have other things that are more important than just winning power and control. I think one of the things is, we’ve allowed a kind of masculinity to control us in our technological mastery of the universe and that’s been very much, almost to simplify a Newtonian view in a sense, that we’re outside, we’re separate and we’ve got to control this and that’s how we’ve taken control of the globe and the universe and attempted to wrestle it to the ground and we realizing that this kind of attitude is bringing us to the brink of extinction and so I hope that this new attitude with the new science showing a much more cooperative and feminine kind of sense of connection is going to be the dictate in a sense for a new reality and that we’re going to really build from there and understand that we have to cooperate with each other; we have to cooperate with the planet and that means that we have to understand fundamentally that we’re all one.

Kala: Yes and I think women do like to win but not to the detriment of everyone else and everything else and that’s the difference in some ways. Having said that, it’s so important like the work that you’re doing and what you’re saying and it’s not about the feminine being totally right either, we need both. It’s just about coming into a balance; we need the masculine for different things just as we need the feminine. We see this in nature with yin and yang and summer and winter, the various seasons. I really think that’s what we’re all trying to work towards, is to restore that balance and that equilibrium which is important in everything we do.

Lynne: Absolutely and I think that we’re so out of balance now. We are all trying to understand this and I think there's such a yearning for it now. I’m so fascinated by the response of people in all walks of life; responses I get and the letters I get from people where they really change their life, they’re taking on this new science and they really felt a yearning to live in different way and I think it’s kind of good with the recession cause people are reminded of the fragility of the material world and they start thinking deeper and so in a sense this could really be a good time. It will remind us all that money isn’t everything and that material success is not necessarily success and so we need to look a lot deeper and look a lot more fundamentally in the way we live our lives and that restructuring and creating things according to these new tenents is one of the most fundamental ways to conscious living and ecstasy.

Kala: I agree and a sense of community - that we’re all connected and so many wonderful things have happened to bring us all closer together, like the internet; this age of communication. Here you and I are talking, in different part of the world, being able to connect and this show will go out and connect people to listen to all over the world, that’s where we’re at now. There is no more separation, we’re all in this together and it’s time to work together.

Lynne: I know and what’s fabulous is it's not centralized anymore. I so like the work of Paul Hawkins who's written a book Blessed Unrest about all the social movements that are going on in little atomized groups. These little groups are doing social reform all over the globe and there are millions of them now. And this collectively is enormous, the biggest social reform movement ever and also the biggest reform movement in trying to protect the planet. So if you look at all of that instead of having one big top down thing, this is all a bottom up thing and it’s very much spurred on by the internet. I'm fascinated by the fact that we can communicate; you and I, directly with people; we don’t need a Rupert Murdock anymore. We don’t need publishers, you can just communicate with people and they communicate back and I think that’s what’s amazing that this kind of communication, mechanism for communication is here for us. This is the right time.

Kala: Absolutely. It’s like a grassroots community all over again with people being to speak.

Lynne: Exactly. But now our community can be global.

Kala: And that will change the world if we’re all together.

Lynne: I hope so.

Kala: Lynne McTaggert, it’s been a pleasure speaking with you and learning about all of your good intentions in the work that you’re doing. Again, Lynne's books are The Intention Experiment and The Field. Thank you so much for your time today.
