The Inland Empire Gardeners Febrary presentation

The February meeting of The Inland Empire Gardeners will be on Thursday, February 7, 2013. The presenter will be Jim Miller, owner of Miller’s Homestead (a Certified Naturally Grown Apiary and purveyor of honey, bees, and bee keeping equipment and lessons) in Cheney, WA, and a Certified Master Beekeeper.

Miller will speak on “Beekeeping Along the Nile”, about the two weeks he spent in Egypt working with the Arab Beekeeping Union. He will present stories about past and present beekeeping in Egypt- one of the Pharaoh’s titles was the ‘Bee King’ and the glyph for Lower Egypt was a honeybee. Today beekeeping is an important small business opportunity for many as well as providing pollinators for important food plants for humans.

The TIEG meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. at 2426 N. Discovery Place in the Spokane Valley. There will be a short business meeting and refreshments as well as the presentation. There is no fee for attendance.
