The June, 2014 meeting of The Inland Empire Gardeners will mark the 20th birthday of the organization. Founded in June, 1994, the club set out to be a more dynamic and inclusive garden organization, one that welcomed all types of gardeners, and it continues to be very active. The club has held 221 meetings and put out that many newsletters, had many garden parties, started holding the Garden Expo in 1999 and the Spokane in Bloom garden tour in 2001, held the Garden of the Month contest since 1998, brought the Plant a Row for the Hungry program to Spokane in 2000, and has sponsored many trips to view gardens around the world.
The 20th birthday meeting will be held on Thursday, June 5th, 2014 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at CenterPlace, 2426 N. Discovery Place, Spokane Valley. There will be cheese and crackers, coffee, and of course birthday cake; Red Rock Catering will have a cash bar. TV & radio personality and Master Gardener Ciscoe Morris will be the speaker. There will be gifts for all TIEG members and a raffle anyone can participate in. Everyone is welcome, so go, enjoy the program, and toast to TIEG’s last 20 years and wish them many more!
