Witness the Bureau of Land Management's (BLM) overreach on the the Bundy Ranch; witness the Department of Children and Family's (DCF) overreach concerning the fate of Justina Pelletier and her parents; witness the wide and orchestrated coverup by the Department of Justice (DOJ), and the White House, concerning the deaths of four Americans in Benghazi; witness the Internal Revenue Services (IRS) overreach in harassing conservative and Pro-Life groups; witness the suspicious overactivity of the National Security Agency (NSA); witness the suspicious build up of ammunition in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS); witness the manipulative efforts of the left in enforcing gun control and gun confiscation laws; witness the governmental overreach in Obamacare, and the HHS mandate...
We may just be witnessing the germination of the inevitable attempted American Police State.
So what must be our Catholic response?
Starting from an honest repentant spirit--for we are sinners, not yet saints; therefore, called to Mercy and compassion, not Judgment--we must attack the confessional, while renewing our prayer life in the Spirit of Jesus, which comes in no greater form than in the Body and Blood of Jesus in the Eucharist.
From the Peace and Mercy of Christ, however, we must wage holy war!
First of all, we must speak, and act, the Truth. Catholic morality must be our guide, not in cafeteria style, but in full-fledged adherence to the Teaching Authority of the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church. Therefore, we must be Pro-Life, Pro-Religious Freedom, and Pro-Truth; in effect, we must be anti-totalitarianism, anti-socialism, anti-racism, and anti-PC!
With this Catholic countercultural attitude, we must embrace seemingly contradictory, and paradoxical realities.
Catholics have a Just War Theory. So, we are blessed when we defend ourselves from attack, defend the poor and defenseless from tyranny, and defend the Truth of the Catholic faith. We are also stewards of Creation. This includes the Catholic acknowledgment of the right to personal property. We are, therefore, blessed to defend Life, Liberty, and property.
All means to salvation and Truth are blessed. The vessels which bring us the Body and Blood of Jesus in the Eucharist, God in 'earthen vessels,' are consecrated for our salvation. The priest, in a finite man, brings us Jesus 'in Persona Christi' and in 'alter Christus.'
Now, what I am going to say may seem radical, but hear me out.
If we are attacked by tyrannical governmental agencies, are we going to allow our children to die a violent death? I won't! Therefore, guns and ammunition, if truly an absolute last resort, become consecrated vessels of protecting the poor and vulnerable among us.
Let us pray that it never reaches the depths of insanity that I have just described.
But history reveals the possibility.
