Pope Francis is hosting his inaugural mass this morning at the Vatican. Pope Francis greeted Heads of State from all over the world, to whom he kept reminding to be mindful of the weak and poor in their country.
Pope Francis chose the name Francis from St. Francis, who represents the earth, animals and the poor, he has begun already to live up to his name. Most Popes choose their name from saints from whom they believe fulfill themselves and their virtue. Pope Francis has been living very similarly to St. Francis, when he was the Cardinal of Argentina early last week.
As Cardinal, he gave his last dollars to a poor man, he lived in a one-bedroom apartment with a wood stove, by choice. Why should he live above his parishioners? Why shouldn't he understand and be humbled by them, since he was not born above them? So far, as Pope Francis, he is very mindful to transition how he lives into his service as Pope, the leader of the Catholic Church.
