The importance of small talk

Thursday January 23, 2014: An all day Moon Void- of-course in Libra (until 4:43 pm EST) suggests that as you go about the business of the day and interact with others, that you contemplate the importance of socializing and small talk... of meeting new people face to face and chatting them up.

While it's called "small talk", your ability to embrace this form of communication is really a big deal when it comes to your personal and professional success.. and your overall happiness. So don't dismiss it as superficial and pointless, and believe that because it has no depth that it is not "real" conversation. Small talk is how you get to the point of having those deeper meaningful conversations.

And...

Small talk is the doorway through which new people enter your life. That’s huge when you think about it. Why? Because you never know who you're going to encounter. That person could be your future boss, your future best friend, or your future husband or wife. You simply never know when someone you meet will take your life in a new direction. And if you can’t initiate these relationships with light banter, your circle of contacts and intimates will never expand past your current roster of friends. (How to Make Small Talk)

But...

Don't be surprised if by late this afternoon you crave a deeper conversation, with someone you really know and trust. Someone close to you, who will listen and help you unravel a dilemma or solve some psychological conundrum.

Today's Quote
