"No man is prejudiced in favor of a thing, knowing it to be wrong. He is attached to it on the belief of its being right; and when he sees it is not so, the prejudice will be gone."
The above quote from Thomas Paine's powerful and thought provoking book on God, Deism and religion, The Age of Reason, The Complete Edition (for Kindle version click here), shows us why it is very important to educate people to what is really in their "holy" books. Most people simply do not know all of the contents found in the "sacred" scriptures of the various "revealed"/hearsay religions. This is one of the tasks Deists and all freethinkers need to complete - the awakening of those currently in a "revealed"/hearsay religion to the brutal and ungodly teachings found in their "holy" books. Once this is done, the end of the "revealed"/hearsay religions will be near. We will then be on the threshold of a new world free of fear and superstition based religious violence which is especially important in our current nuclear age.
Numbers 31:17-18 is a great place to start to educate sincere "revealed" religionists about the unreasonable/ungodly teachings found in the Bible. Because all three of the Abrahamic "revealed" religions look at Moses as a godly man and prophet of God, the lessons from this Bible verse can reach and awaken Jews, Christians and Muslims alike.
Numbers 31:17-18 tells us that Moses gave this order to the Israelite army in regards to a recently defeated neighbor: "Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him. But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves." Verse 35 tells us the number of the women children the Israelites kept alive for themselves was 32,000!
There is not a sane person on Earth who would even attempt to justify such an anti-human/anti-child ungodly order. And to claim that a man of God gave the order is an indirect slap in the face to God.
Since most Jews, Christians and Muslims are probably not even aware of these ungodly Bible verses, when we educate them to the reality that these horrific verses really do exist in the Bible and are a part of Judaism, Christianity and Islam, we are educating them to the fact that these verses teach something that is wrong and in any civilized society is a crime. This will help explode their prior unquestioned belief that the Bible and their religion are from God and are right and good. The seeds will then be planted for the "revealed" religionist to evolve into a Deist! The below cartoon can be used as a tool to help awaken people to these eye-opening Bible verses.
